7/28/18 - Celebrate American Music & History with Tom Fair

TOM FAIR has had quite a career in music. Beginning as a lyricist for the pop vocal group The Left Banke, he later made the rounds of folk music clubs in NYC in the early 1970’s, and began producing his own recordings in 1977.

Moving to the Los Angeles area, Tom soon established the Tom Fair School of Music, teaching music appreciation and instruments to children and adult beginners for over 25 years.

In 2009, Tom – an Altadena resident – began producing five local concerts in Pasadena based on the history of American music. He calls these “musi-cational” concerts, in which he narrates events in our nation’s history while performing the songs of those eras.

Tom comes to the Coffee Gallery Backstage this summer with Part I of a two-part series: The Great American Folk Song / Seeds of a Nation – beginning with songs of colonial days and taking it up to the late 19th century when cowboys drove the big herds along the trails and the “Iron Horse” – the steam locomotive – was the most advanced form of transportation.

Be sure to mark your calendars for this delightful performance… and be prepared to enjoy yourself to the max!!
Loaded with historical information and enhanced by Tom's engaging presentation, the program will provide memories you'll cherish for many years to come.

SPECIAL GUEST: Magician/Instrumentalist Kevin Curtin.
